The Wonderful World of Panties!

The Wonderful World of Panties!

Greetings Dear Readers!

I hope you are well and wearing something pretty. First, a shout out to Nathan, who suggested a blog topic about lingerie. Thanks, Nathan. What a fun topic! Because the word “lingerie” covers such a large array of clothing, I’m going to limit this blog to the topic of panties – a topic I know you are all totally into, as am I.

The great majority of us got our start in cross-dressing with panties. A good number of us started by exploring mom’s or sister’s panty drawer and then progressed to buying our own. Some folks, once they are adults, limit themselves to underdressing under their everyday male clothing, while others of us progressed on to bras, hosiery, and finally outer clothing.

I was a late starter, having begun with underdressing in middle age. Do you remember the thrill of that first time you slipped into a pair of panties? I was so amazed by the choices. With men’s underwear, you have a choice of tighty whities or boxers. Of course, you could expand that to uh, tighty whities or boxers. Of course, you can also find male thongs, usually in, of all places, swimwear. With panties, you’ve got this amazing variety of styles, colors, and fabrics. Xdress/Body Aware has a huge selection, ranging from pretty grannies to bikinis, thongs, G-strings, tap pants, tangas – ah the list goes on! And the fabrics! Lace, satin, cotton, polyester. I’m all about comfort, and men’s underwear does not begin to measure up to the comfortable styles and fabrics of Xdress panties.

It’s interesting to me that, although I’ve been underdressing for many years now (I have one pair of men’s underwear that I wear for my annual physical with my very conservative doctor) that it is still a treat every morning to pick out the day’s panties. When I wore men’s underwear, I didn’t give a thought to the selection of underwear, as they all looked the same. Not so with panties. Every day it is fun to decide on what panties to wear. Is it like that for you?

Online panty shopping is the safest way to go, and Xdress/Body Aware panties are designed with the male physique in mind, in terms of the width of the gusset, which gives a very comfortable fit. It is also fun to go to the “other side of the store” and explore the panty section. I am very fortunate to have a very supportive wife, and we go panty shopping together. I find that shopping in stores appeals to my feminine side, plus it is just a bit risky, making it all the more fun. Part of the fun for me is wearing a very sexy pair of panties under my women’s jeans and nobody has a clue how hot I look under it all. Speaking of jeans, if you try on a pair of women’s skinny jeans, you’ll never go back to men’s jeans. I know, that’s off-topic, but I just had to throw that in there.

Okay, so there are my thoughts on the topic. How about you? Are you a full-time panty wearer or limit it to weekends or special occasions? How old were you when you started underdressing? What are your favorite styles/fabrics? What is your preferred style of shopping – online or brick and mortar? Warm-up those keyboards guys/gurls. You know I love hearing your stories!

Fond regards,

Angie ♥️

Hey Angie,

First time commenter. I’ve always wanted to say something and appreciate everyone’s acceptance here.

I grew up mostly around my mother and sister with a father that worked a lot and a brother too old to hang out with a younger brother. I first started wearing panties when I would sneak in and grab some of my sister’s underwear and bras. There was always a thrill and feminine sensation to it all. That went on up until when I finished college.

I then purchased a couple of my own pairs from VS but each time I feared what my now wife and others would think and got rid of them.

Fast forward a couple years and I’ve again purchased some more, the sensation too much to resist. I’ve also had several talks with my wife and she has come to accept what I like to wear and does not mind seeing me in them.

My struggle has always been the anxiety that has come with sometimes wearing panties and bras. There has been a fear of what someone would think. Now I’m learning that I don’t care as much because I like the way they feel and that it’s part of who I am.

I mostly purchase from aerie and stores from amazon and recently bought a couple sports bras from fruit of the loom. I would like to get something from XD soon, your styles and fits look amazing. I just simply need to work on being more comfortable with wearing what I ultimately want.

Hopefully this wasn’t too long. Thank you to those who read and for the blog.

What a wonderful topic! I too love going shopping with my wife and looking at all the pretty panties in the stores like Marks & Spencers, seeing the wide range of colors and fabrics. We often do this on my birthday or Christmas when she promises to buy me something pretty I go with a slight feeling of trepidation, but also excitement, as I know she will be testing the stretch of the front of the panties for fit and maybe holding them up against me and asking me if I like them, while I pretend disinterest when other women are nearby! I am in my 40’s and clearly not as brave as Nathan, but I am really happy that the younger people in their 20’s are so accepting and even think its cool to be non gender conforming.

I love what my wife chooses for me, but for everyday wear, they are often not the best fit and can become uncomfortable at the front crotch area where the legs cut into my male areas. I have had the most success with bigger store bought panties like boy shorts and sometimes hipsters if the fabric is really stretchy, but anything like bikinis, tangas and thongs are always too narrow at the front. So for my wearable panties I buy Xdress as I can be sure they will fit comfortably in the crotch and won’t have loads of excess fabric in the back. I probably have about 15-20 XD pairs that I have bought in the last couple of years, AT the moment I am wearing the satin brazil panty, I have 3 colors of these and hope they will bring out more. I also love the ribbed picot panties and camisoles with contrasting elastic, as the fabric is super soft and stretchy. What do other readers like best from XD? Thank you XD for hosting this great blog and thank you Angie for writing about my all time favourite topic!

Hello Angie, and thank you for the shout out on this topic!

I definitely wear panties daily, and currently own about 30 pairs or so. I primarily get them from either Frederick’s or VS, but also have a decent amount from XD/BA. I am a Goth so they are primarily black, but I do have a few pairs in beautiful reds and purples as well. I typically am attracted to satin, lace & mesh styles, since they are just simply alluring. I also have two bras tailored for the male physique, and a garter belt. I plan to buy many, many more in the future. I do have 2 pairs of men’s briefs, and I wear these at the gym or for security for other occasions that call for it.

Panties are in fact at the genesis of my cross-dressing, as I started wearing my sisters’ at a young age of 8. The second I tried them on for the first time, I knew that it was a part of who I am. I progressed from panties, to pantyhose, to high heels, and finally to outerwear. I never really was into bras, though. My dressing remained incognito from ages 7-21, and I only indulged in my desires on the rare occasions I was home alone. Every time I did so however, I experienced a euphoria unlike any other.

Currently, I have only purchased lingerie online. I have purchased blouses, skirts, dresses, and heels in physical stores with my girlfriend, however. It is quite coincidental this blog was posted this week though, as my girlfriend and I plan to go to VS this Friday to get ourselves some new panties. I am definitely excited, and not at all nervous to do it.

I want to touch on a comment of Keri’s, regarding the future of young men being bright. I can wholeheartedly attest to this fact, at the age of 22. The reason being that every single day, I am cross-dressed head to toe in public and my place of work, and never receive any flak from neither strangers nor my wonderful GF. This is especially surprising to me, since I present myself very femininely (mini skirts, lace tops, 4"+ heels, pantyhose, lipstick, painted nails). The only time I receive comments, are compliments from other women on either my shoes or outfit in general. What a lovely feeling that is!

I hope to be an inspiration to those younger (or older) than myself that see me in public, to let go of their inhibitions and just be themselves. The world is indeed becoming more accepting, and what better feeling is there to be yourself?

Thank you to all who have read this far, and I wish you all well on this journey we share!

Ooohh one of my favorite things. I LUV panties of all kinds but my faves are the smooth satin or cotton blends as I find the lace ones a bit scratchy, although I do think they look sexy. I started in college by “borrowing”my then GFs panties – with her permission and approval of course- and haven’t stopped since! I do online and brick and mortar shopping, usually with my GF who lets me know what she likes or what she thinks looks good on me. We’ve never had any problems with VS or other stores including the big department stores as far as getting stares or other strange reactions from the sales associates. Thankfully they’ve all been very polite and even supportive.
One bonus is that most places have unisex fitting rooms so we’ve not had any issues trying on panties or other clothes

Anyway, we always have a great time shopping and usually it turns into an expensive trip because we find it hard to stop just with panties and lingerie, so we have bags of shoes, jeans etc.!!
My GF says it’s as much fun going shopping with me as with her female friends haha.

You gurlz have a blast with your panties and as Angie says, wear something pretty today!!!

Angie; I must tell this lace panty experience. First I just LOVE wearing lace. A few years ago, before XD BA had an all lace brief. I just had to have it.
I wore it all the time. Well, I knew my Doc was gay so I took a chance and wore the lace to my next appointment. He went nuts ! Couldn’t keep
his hands off them. Now every time I see him I try to find something special he will like. We both enjoy the experience!

Now I get my lace from XD. But I have started getting my printed panties from Lane Bryant in the mall or on line. There clerks are helpful and a little older. They are accustomed to men buying their panties. They help with sizing and styles. Not like those young girls at VS who giggle every time a man sets a panty on the counter. Now I must shop for more lace. ;))
